Noticed and tweeted a mini-milestone today. It’s just a month to the Mayan Apocalypse. The milestone being Fox News unashamed ‘coverage’ and countdown to the end. They’re not afraid to masquerade anything as news anymore. I’m just glad they haven’t connected it to Obama’s reelection (yet). There IS still a month.
On a strange note, I noticed an article mentioning an uptick of feelings of a confusing kind of paranoia. Sounded similar to what I’ve been feeling lately so I did a search and noticed a strange quantity of talk about it on the webs. Is this always around or am I in on some kind of subtle mass affliction?
Last week, Russia’s government decided to put an end to the doomsday talk.
He acknowledged, however, that Russians were still vulnerable to “blizzards, ice storms, tornadoes, floods, trouble with transportation and food supply, breakdowns in heat, electricity and water supply.”
Oh well that’s very comforting.
Their skill is squeaking and moaning in order to get their way. Which is fine with me. It makes for easier targets. When the world goes sideways, these same helpless and starving extras, also known as “Zombies,” will instinctively stumble their way past San Bernardino and across the desert toward the hoarders and doers, also known as farmers. Plenty of headshots to be taken during the harvest down time. We call this pre-apocalypse practice.
There is a vague and slightly meandering point within. Here’s to hoping he isn’t beginning the downward spiral toward the “You Kids Get Off My Lawn” batshit that took Ted Nugent.
…it might be YOU who is mistaken.
This long-count calendar isn’t a calendar as much as a counting system. You know how we use a base-10 counting system? (10, 100, 1000, 10,000 etc.) The Mayans used a modifed base-20 counting system for keeping track of days – the second cycle went up to 18 rather than 20. So they tracked days in cycles of 20, 360, 7200, 144000, 2880000, etc.
We’re coming to the end of one of the 144,000 day cycles. The concept of leap-years is irrelevant to this calendar system, because it’s not based on solar years, simply on pure math. I’ve got no opinion of whether the calculated date of Dec 12, 2012 as the end of the cycle is accurate. But if it is inaccurate, it’s for reasons that have nothing to do with leap years.
