Only 2% of Americans believe that the end of the world, as predicted by the ancient Mayans, will happen by the end of this year.

I don’t know if I’m more surprised that one out of every fifty Americans think Friday is the last day of their life or that it isn’t more. Less surprising are the number of Americans expecting the rapture in their lifetime.

Somehow this was most surprising to me:

Nearly 6-in-10 (58%) Americans agree that God is in control of everything that happens in the world, while nearly 4-in-10 (38%) disagree.

Better hope your country wasn’t naughty this year…
